• Chuck Steak Shepherd’s Pie

It has been quite cold the past week.  The cold and rainy weather is making me crave all things comfort food and the other night the comfort dish I was craving was Shepherd’s Pie.  But I really wasn’t wanting Shepherd’s Pie with ground beef so I decided to give it a go with chuck steak instead.  It took a bit longer than if I had used ground beef but the result was so worth it and the hands on time was minimal.  Alternatively this is a great way to use up leftover pot roast.

  • Steak and Potato Salad with Mustard Dressing

Steak and Potato Salad with Mustard Dressing ~ Living the Savory LifeSo it seems that Sunday Gravy was my 50th post!  Who knew?!  And it only took me two plus years to get there.  So hooray for an LSL milestone!  Let’s hope the 100th isn’t another two years away.  I’m glad my 50th was Sunday Gravy.  I really like that recipe but don’t worry #51 isn’t a bad one either.  (really great transition there Laur; really great)  Anyway……Steak and Potato Salad with Mustard Dressing ~ Living the Savory Life

  • Beef Tenderloin Bites with Caramelized Onions

Beef Tenderloin Bites with Caramelized Onions ~ Living the Savory LifeServing beef tenderloin for a dinner party with friends is indeed luxurious.  If you are like me, funding a beef tenderloin dinner is well, a little more expensive than the budget allows.  These little beef tenderloin bites are the perfect solution!  They are decadent and delicious, your guests will love them, they are totally doable on a budget and they are a cinch to put together.

  • Philly Cheesesteak Pizza – Leftover Revamp

Just the other week I made us a roast beef dinner.  It was really good.  Very tender and served with homemade gravy and roasted potatoes and vegetables.  I bought the smallest roast I could and even though we ate plenty, there was still so much leftover.  I mean a roast for just two people?  You go into it knowing you’ll be making more than one meal of it.

After a few days of sandwiches and a dinner of open faced hot roast beef sandwiches with gravy I still had roast beef leftover!  Really.  It was time for this roast to be finished.Philly Cheesesteak Pizza ~ Living the Savory Life

  • Leftover Revamp ~ Hawaiian Burger

Hawaiian Burger ~ Living the Savory LifeI hadn’t initially intended on sharing this with you but it was just too delicious not to.  As you know, part of my new commitment to our kitchen is to use up leftover bits and pieces in the refrigerator and pantry and not be wasteful.  Well, it was lunchtime and instead of running out to pick up lunch supplies I pulled a couple burger patties out of the freezer, some fresh pineapple leftover from my pineapple salsa, the last few slices of triple smoke deli ham, some jalapenos,  and a bit of red onion.   The one thing I did grab, was the burger buns from our favorite bakery around the corner.  They have the nicest bread and croissants.  Total bonus that they’re cheaper than buying bread from the grocery store and it tastes so much better!

  • Beef and Vegetable Stir-Fry

Need a quick and easy mid-week meal?  Look no further.  This stir-fry is quick to come together and is packed with veggie goodness.  Not only that, it is highly adaptable to what you have on hand or what is in season.  No snow peas?  No worries.  Sub green beans.  Want mushrooms?  Add them.  Want little baby corn?  Throw them in!  It’s really that easy.  If you aren’t feeling like beef, go ahead, use chicken or shrimp instead.Beef and Vegetable Stir Fry ~ Living the Savory Life

Cabo Resort complete with swim up bar!

It has only been a couple of months since I was in Mexico, but it feels like ages ago.  I was in Cabo.  At a brand new resort.  On a work trip.  Yeah, I pretty much was “Living the Savory Life” on that trip!  Sun, pool, beach, all inclusive food and drink, deep sea fishing, massages; oh I could go on, but I’m even starting to get a little jealous of my past self!  It really was a lovely trip and the crew we had there was just amazing.  I hope I get to go again next year!
