Chuck Steak Shepherd’s Pie

It has been quite cold the past week.  The cold and rainy weather is making me crave all things comfort food and the other night the comfort dish I was craving was Shepherd’s Pie.  But I really wasn’t wanting Shepherd’s Pie with ground beef so I decided to give it a go with chuck steak instead.  It took a bit longer than if I had used ground beef but the result was so worth it and the hands on time was minimal.  Alternatively this is a great way to use up leftover pot roast.
This is a really savory rich dish and is great leftover for lunch the next day.  You all know how it goes….. Rich beef in gravy layered on the bottom with a middle layer of sweet baby peas and topped off with buttery delicious mashed potatoes with little crispy bits on the top.  If you find you have quite a bit leftover, chill in the fridge overnight.  The next day slice into portions, wrap each portion into cling wrap and freeze the wrapped portions in a freezer bag.

Today, I think I’ll just let the pictures tell the story and get straight to the recipe….Chuck Steak Shepherd's Pie ~ Living the Savory LifeChuck Steak Shepherd's Pie ~ Living the Savory LifeChuck Steak Shepherd's Pie ~ Living the Savory LifeChuck Steak Shepherd's Pie ~ Living the Savory LifeChuck Steak Shepherd's Pie ~ Living the Savory LifeChuck Steak Shepherd's Pie ~ Living the Savory LifeChuck Steak Shepherd's Pie ~ Living the Savory LifeChuck Steak Shepherd's Pie ~ Living the Savory Life
